Questions

Straight answers about shipping a vehicle

Price and payment

How is my price calculated?

By driving distance between the two ZIP codes, the number of vehicles, whether each one runs, and open or enclosed transport, plus a fuel adjustment. Longer trips cost less per mile. You see a range because carrier rates move with season and fuel; a coordinator confirms the final number before you book.

Do I pay anything up front?

Not to get a quote. A deposit is due once a carrier is scheduled for your vehicle, and the balance is due at delivery. Your agreement spells out the amounts before you sign.

How long is my quote good for?

Seven days. After that, ask for a fresh quote; fuel and seasonal demand change carrier rates.

What's the difference between open and enclosed?

Open carriers are the two-level trucks you see on the highway and cost less. Enclosed trailers protect the vehicle from weather and road debris, which is worth it for classic, exotic or freshly restored cars. Enclosed costs about 50% more.

How do I pay the balance?

Your invoice lists the payment methods your broker accepts. You can view, download and acknowledge the invoice from the link we email you.

Pickup, transit and delivery

How long does shipping take?

Under 500 miles usually takes 1 to 3 days after pickup. Cross-country moves take about 7 to 10 days. Pickup normally happens within a few days of your first available date.

Do I need to be there?

Someone 18 or older needs to be at pickup and delivery to walk around the vehicle with the driver and sign the inspection. It can be a friend or family member you name.

What if the truck can't reach my street?

Car carriers are long and heavy. If your street is narrow, low-clearance or restricted, you'll meet the driver at a nearby open lot. The driver calls ahead to set it up.

How do I know where my car is?

You get a tracking link once your vehicle is picked up. It shows progress along the route, the estimated arrival and each step. If the arrival is going to slip past your window, we tell you before it happens.

How should I prepare the car?

Wash it so damage is easy to see, take your own photos, remove toll tags and personal items, leave about a quarter tank of fuel, and turn off the alarm.

Damage and claims

Is my car insured on the truck?

Yes. Every carrier must have cargo insurance on file before they can haul, and we check it against FMCSA records. If there's damage, note it on the delivery inspection before the driver leaves and we help you file the claim with the carrier's insurer.

What happens if there's damage?

Point it out to the driver and note it on the delivery inspection before you sign. Then send us photos, a short description and two repair estimates within 48 hours. The pickup and delivery photos make it clear what changed in transit.

Can I hold back payment until a claim is settled?

No. Federal rules treat the freight charge and a damage claim separately, so the balance is due at delivery and the claim is handled with the carrier's insurer.

Vehicles

Can you ship a car that doesn't run?

Yes. Mark it as inoperable when you quote so we send a truck with a winch. There's a surcharge because loading takes more time and equipment.

Can I leave things in the car?

Please don't. Federal rules bar carriers from transporting household goods in a vehicle, and personal items aren't covered by cargo insurance.

Do you move motorcycles, RVs or boats?

Yes, with carriers equipped for them. Choose the vehicle type in the quote and include size and weight details; a coordinator will confirm the right equipment.

Carriers and brokers

How do carriers get paid?

When the delivery inspection is signed, the carrier's pay is scheduled automatically under the terms on the rate confirmation. Verified carriers can take instant payout for a flat percentage fee.

We're a new authority. Can we haul?

Yes. Verification is based on your authority, insurance and identity, not how long you've been on a load board. Some brokers set their own minimums for specific loads.

Is there a per-seat fee for brokers?

Broker Starter includes three seats, Growth five and Scale ten; more are $39 each on any plan. Customer tracking links, e-signed agreements and invoices are included on every plan.
